The Spring Point Children’s Center on SMCC’s South Portland Campus provides quality and affordable childcare to 3- to 5-year-old children of SMCC students, faculty, staff and the general public. The Center works in conjunction with the Early Childhood Education program and serves as a lab setting for college students. Here, you’ll find a caring, exciting and hands-on environment for your loved ones to learn and grow.
The Spring Point Children’s Center includes: A large and sunny beautiful classroom A thoughtfully planned learning environment Outdoor play area with surrounding fence Observation booth
Spring Point Children’s Center maintains an average adult to child ratio of 1 to 7. Full- and part-time enrollment is available on a first-come, first-served basis. If the Center is at capacity, a wait list is available for those who are interested. Pricing varies depending on enrollment. Please contact us to learn more about our pricing.
Spring Point Children’s Center is licensed by the Maine Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) and maintains a “Step 4 Certificate of Quality,” the highest level on Maine’s DHHS “Quality for ME” quality rating and improvement system. • We strive to recruit, retain and graduate the best student/athletes who fit into our system and place those athletes in the most successful position possible to learn and grow from our positive environment. We do so through our baseball, softball, men's & women’ soccer, hockey, bowling, cross country, Track, and men's & women's basketball. The Emerging Leaders Program (ELP) at SMCC welcomes all students interested in enhancing student leadership through self-exploration and skill development. The program strives to strengthen students’ networks, enhance educational experiences, and prepare students for a variety of roles both at the college and in the community. Students will explore and develop a leadership style effective to their unique strengths and skills. As a result of the successful completion of ELP, students will receive a Certificate of Completion signed by the College President and an Emerging Leaders Program Cord to be worn at the graduation ceremony. To be eligible for these earnings, students must engage meaningfully with core session(s) as well as the required number of Leadership Workshops (5), and must complete all assigned activities, including the Leadership Philosophy. The Fishing Club was founded to bring students together through a shared love of nature and the outdoors while introducing the sport of fishing to those who have never experienced it before. More than just a recreational club, we focus on teaching fishing techniques, fostering environmental stewardship, and seeking volunteer opportunities to support our community and conservation efforts. The L. Joe Van Why School of Hospitality program provides students with a solid foundation in theory and current practices of the hospitality industry as well as a core of liberal arts and science courses that will prepare students for flexible career development. This degree focuses on one of the fastest-growing industries in the world: hospitality, to include focus areas in food and restaurant operations, lodging industry operations, events management and tourism. This hospitality management degree program prepares students for first employment at a supervisory level, or continuation to a bachelor of hospitality management degree. The program includes a 160-hour internship program in the four most important departments of a hotel: concierge, front desk, events planning and night audit.

The Student Advocacy & Resource Center is located off the cafeteria in Riverview Hall. Please be watching for announcements outside the center and via your student email for activities that will contribute to your health and well-being. You can find the Student Navigator located in the center. The center also houses a meeting space where students may privately meet with off-campus service providers. The mission of the Student Advocacy & Resource Center is to demonstrate respect and care for each student as we endeavor to deeply understand their needs and work tirelessly to help remove barriers to critical basic-needs resources using holistic assessment and case management as a best practice. This mission ties directly into the student affairs pillars and the college mission. In order to accomplish the mission of the SARC, the Student Navigator will use the CARES model to improve the student experience on campus. Before being admitted to SMCC, you will be asked to submit your SAT, ACT, and/or Accuplacer test scores. These scores will determine if you are accepted and which courses you will start in at SMCC. SMCC offers Accuplacer testing, and also offers other testing services, such as proctored tests, for a small fee to students who may be taking classes at another college or university.

Southern Maine Community College is proud to offer many services available to help you attain your educational goals. We are committed to providing best practices in the delivery of academic and student support services to veterans and their families. All Post 9/11 Veterans from out-of-state are charged the in-state rate for tuition and fees.
Veteran Education Benefits: Southern Maine Community College is approved by the Veterans Administration for the training of veterans and their dependents. Students who are eligible for education benefits through VA are encouraged to complete the process to apply for benefits.
